use of a Club boat, nor can the Club guarantee the condition
of any boat. Individuals using boats are to ensure
that the boat is in a “seaworthy” condition prior to use.

soon as possible, to the Secretary or Booking Agent. ( see
Care of Boats below)
Juniors
(under 18 years of age)
Juniors
be they members, or visitors, may only use the boats when
accompanied (in the boat) by an adult member, or permit holder,
who is responsible for their safety and behaviour.
No
one under age 18 is allowed to book boats
Safety
Many
drowning accidents occur due to:
| |
Lack
of personal buoyancy equipment |
| |
Disregard
or misjudgement of the conditions |
| |
Failure
to follow good boating practice |
| |
Lack
of supervision, especially of the young |
| |
Inability
to cope once a problem occurs |
For
safety ,
only three people allowed in a boat.
All
persons
using the Club boats must
wear a life jacket or a buoyancy aid ;
available from the booking agents. Visitors will be asked
to pay a returnable deposit of £10, reflecting the cost of
replacement cylinders. The deposit will be retained if Lifejackets
are returned inflated through carelessness, deposit will be
returned if inflation caused by genuine immersion.
Other
safety advice
| |
Do
not stand up in the boat. (It is not only potentially
dangerous;
it is likely to scare the fish.)
|
|
Ensure
there is a bailer in the boat |
|
Don’t
under-estimate the elements; if in doubt, don’t go
out |
|
Carefully
supervise and give good example to the young |
|
Don’t
panic if a problem arises; calmly make for the shore |
|
Report
any dangerous occurrence, or incident, when you return
the safety equipment |
Care
of Boats
After
use, boat must be returned to the correct location, irrespective
of where they may have been found. Boat must be pulled
well clear of the water and secured to mooring post, (remember,
some lochs rise significantly as a result of tides or heavy
rain).
Remove
oars from thole pins and store safely inside the boat .
Please
leave boats in a clean and tidy condition and remove all your
rubbish from the boat and boat station.
Damage
Any
damage to boats should be reported as soon as possible to:
The
Secretary Gerry Pritchard
01870 602116 or
Booking
Agent Mrs Evelyn Thorington
01870 602431
Any
damage arising from misuse of the boat, or failure to secure
it properly after use, may result in a claim being lodged
by the Club against the individual(s).
Note:
each
season boats are “lost”, and damaged, through not being properly
secured or pulled high enough out of the water. Damage
is usually extensive.
Float
tubes
Float
tubes may only be used with permission of a committee member
and not on lochs where there are club boats.

Some
