Activities

We are ideally situated for our guests to enjoy many outdoor pursuits. Our home is only 8 miles from the CalMac Ferry Terminal at Lochboisdale and 20 miles from Benbecula Airport.

To the west within 5 minutes walking distance lies the coastline, with miles of white sandy beaches, while hill walkers can venture out to the hills on the east.

Fishing is one of the most popular activities with visitors to South Uist, and there is certainly no shortage of fishing lochs for you to enjoy. There is wildlife in abundance; therefore, bird watching is also a favourite pastime.

All of these, as well as walking or cycling, will enable you to enjoy the beautiful scenery that South Uist has to offer. Other neighbouring Islands such as Eriskay, Barra, Benbecula, Berneray and North Uist are easily accessible.

All of this, and much more, will leave you with beautiful and lasting memories of your trip to South Uist.

Kildonan Museum is located 1 mile from 'Old Croft House', and well worth a visit. There you can envisage the way people used to live on the island, and there is an archive room that houses numerous photographs and provides a store of interesting information.

You can enjoy some relaxing time in the cafe situated next to the museum, before visiting the craft shop, giving you the opportunity to appreciate some of the island crafts and gifts.

The Cairn, which marks Flora MacDonald's birthplace, and the ruins of Ormiclate Castle , is only a short distance from the Museum.
